Who We Are
Mission
At The Out of Many Project, we believe that the true measure of political policies lies in their impact on the everyday lives of the people they govern. We collect firsthand stories to reveal how governmental actions affect individuals on a personal level—helping us understand one another amidst growing polarization.
Vision
We envision a platform where every voice is heard and shared experiences become the foundation for empathy, dialogue, and unity. Your stories create a window into the lives of everyday Americans, showing that despite our differences, our shared humanity connects us all.
Background
Established in February of 2025, the concept was born out of a belief that Americans have more in common then the current environment makes it seem. Understanding that polarization has made it hard for people of differing experiences to feel comfortable speaking to their experiences, we wanted to create a means by which to break through some of those artificial barriers and hopefully, build empathy for those who may not share the same views by ensuring anonymity.
The project title illudes to “E Pluribus Unum”, the official motto of the United States of America, which translates to “Out of many, one.” The American ethos does not exist without plurality.
